Dear Prospective Students and Parents of the Department of Computer Engineering,

You have completed a long and demanding university entrance examination process. Now, it is time to make the right choice!

Computer engineers are the technology professionals of the future who design, plan, develop, implement, produce, improve, and maintain engineering-based solutions to real-life problems and needs by using the hardware and software tools of computer and information technologies.

From the very first day, students admitted to the department are expected to adopt an inquisitive and research-oriented approach, keep up with current developments, make interdisciplinary observations, work systematically, and demonstrate diligence and responsibility. They understand that they will learn and improve their profession not only by studying it, but mainly by practising it, and they are aware that this process will continue throughout their lives.

Therefore, they should make the right choice!

On this page, you will find a summary of important information for prospective students about the Department of Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Technology of Isparta University of Applied Sciences (ISUBÜ).

We would be delighted to welcome you among us.

Your Choice Matters

The curriculum you will study matters. The variety of elective courses matters. The number and quality of internships matter. Workplace-Based Professional Training matters. Accreditation matters. The physical environment and infrastructure matter. The city matters. The academic staff matters. Studying at a Faculty of Technology matters. Project-based assessment in field-specific courses matters. The number and quality of activities organised throughout the year matter. Adequate capacity in public student dormitories matters. Convenient intercity transportation matters. Having a sufficient number of up-to-date artificial intelligence courses in the curriculum matters.

History

Isparta University of Applied Sciences (ISUBÜ) was established in 2018. However, do not let this date mislead you. ISUBÜ’s foundational infrastructure, traditions, and experience can be traced back to Süleyman Demirel University (SDÜ), which was established in 1992, and even further back to the Isparta State Academy of Engineering and Architecture, founded in 1976.

With a history spanning approximately 40 years, ISUBÜ is a well-established public university that has continuously updated and improved its infrastructure, curricula, and educational model since its foundation, in line with its mission of becoming a “Model University in Applied Education.”

Faculties of Technology were first established in Türkiye in 2009 as engineering faculties with distinctive characteristics that introduced new dynamics to engineering education in the country.

One of the most important features of these faculties is the Workplace-Based Professional Training course. Also known as the “Compulsory Long-Term Internship” or the “7+1 Education Model,” this programme enables students to spend one semester of their fourth year working for 14 weeks in well-established companies operating in their chosen sectors.

During this period, students receive practical and skills-based training in line with the current needs of the industry under the supervision of professional mentors assigned to them by the participating companies. In this way, they strengthen their engineering qualifications and gain professional work experience before graduation.

Statistics show that approximately 60% of our students who successfully complete Workplace-Based Professional Training begin working directly for the same companies after graduation.

Features of the Department

In previous years, the Department of Computer Engineering admitted students through both the general admission quota and the MTOK quota, based on the numbers, scores, and rankings shown in the table.

Our programme includes two compulsory internships, each lasting 20 working days, during the summer periods at the end of the second and third years, for a total of 40 working days. Through these internships, our students receive practical and skills-based training in line with the current needs of the industry. They also have the opportunity to become familiar with the computer engineering profession and its characteristics in real working environments while gaining their first professional experience.

The curriculum of the Department of Computer Engineering has been designed in accordance with the criteria established by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MÜDEK), an independent organisation. This ensures the implementation of an up-to-date, transparent, measurable, improvable, auditable, and practice-oriented education and training plan. The MÜDEK accreditation process is currently ongoing.

You can learn more about the objectives and features of MÜDEK on its official website (click here).

The courses have been carefully diversified to prepare our students for the needs of the industry after graduation. As shown in the table below, our courses are classified as basic science courses, compulsory and elective field-specific courses, elective non-field courses, and compulsory and elective foreign-language courses.

According to their content, the courses listed in the table are also classified as software engineering-oriented courses, computer hardware engineering-oriented courses, artificial intelligence-oriented courses, cybersecurity-oriented courses, project and application development-oriented courses, and personal development and entrepreneurship-oriented courses.

You can review the details of the ECTS Information Package on our website (click here).

In addition, our department participates in the “Sector on Campus Project”. Through this project, students are given the opportunity each semester to take an online course delivered by an expert instructor from one of our industry partner companies.

You can review the details of the Sector on Campus Project on its website (click here).

Thanks to our project- and application-development-oriented courses, our students have achieved notable success in events and competitions such as TEKNOFEST, TÜBİTAK, Robotic Coding Competitions, and Project Markets.
